Registration for Summer 2019 is already well underway and we’re looking forward to another awesome summer. As we’re getting ready, we wanted to introduce the key leadership around the lake, starting with our Operations Team.

These men and women work year-round with the overhead and operations to support the six camps of Goshen. They manage the budget, handle the online registration system, order trading post goods, maintain buildings, plan the menu, organize off-season events with local groups, and so much more.

We’re very excited to have them all with us and we’re glad that so many of them have been with us for such a long time. Allow us to reintroduce the Goshen Operations Team!

Phil Barbash, Reservation Director

Phil is excited to begin his 17th summer working on staff at Goshen Scout Reservation. It will also be his fourth year as the Director of Operations. Beforehand, he worked 10 summers at Camp Bowman, with the last three as the Camp Director. He has served in various positions including Ecology Instructor, First Year Camper Director, and Camp Commissioner. With his promotion, he now serves as NCAC’s Director of Camping with oversight over Goshen, Camp Snyder, Camp Airy, and Camp Wall.

Sarah Moses, Camping Specialist

This will be Sarah’s 14th summer at Goshen and first full year as the Goshen Camping Specialist. Previously, she has held a variety of positions on camp staff, mostly at Marriott and a little at Lenhok’sin. An increasingly active off-season volunteer in recent years, she’s helped with the website, marketing, and other projects. She is your go to person for any questions you may have about registration.

Matt Hanson, Assistant Reservation Director

Matt is returning for his third summer as Assistant Reservation Director and his twelfth summer at Goshen. Before he moved up in the world, he spent nine years across multiple program areas and administrative positions at Camp Ross, including two as Camp Director. Other highlights include teaching in the Nature and Aquatics Areas, a decorated career as a First Aider, and multiple years working on both the Program and Facilities sides of the Administration.

Mike Jolly, Superintendent

Mike Jolly has been with Goshen for 25 summers as of 2019. He was originally hired on as an auto mechanic oh so long ago, and worked his way up the chain to become one of the finest Superintendents our operation has ever seen. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and carpentry.

Drac Peyton, Food Service Director

Drac is the living legend of Goshen Scout Reservation. As of 2019, he has worked down at Goshen for 45 consecutive summers. He has worked in a variety of positions on camp staff, but is now serving as our overall Director of Food Service. Previously, we had challenges with outside contractors for a food service operation of this magnitude. With Drac at the helm, we have seen 6 consecutive summers of fantastic quality and quality of our food. Way to go Drac!

Joel Jackson, Director of Conservation Partnerships & Special Events

This will be Joel’s third year with Goshen. He has previously served as the District Executive for Colonial District in the National Capital Area Council. As a retired US Army Officer, he served more than 23 years in the military. His responsibilities for Goshen include anything and everything that falls into the off-season usage of the facility between the months of August and June. Feel free to contact him with any questions about renting our property.
