Camp PMI Leaders-IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Hello Goshen leaders!

I hope the great weather we’ve been having is getting you excited about camp this summer! Outdoor Adventure is such an important part of the Scouting program, and of childhood development more generally, and after a year of being stuck inside watching a screen it will be great to see you all at Goshen in just a couple months.

Today, however, I’m writing to inform you of a tough decision we have had to make about this summer. To ensure we can provide every Pack with an outstanding program, we have made the decision to combine our Webelos camps for this summer. That means all Webelos programs will be taking place at Camp Ross. If you have registered to attend PMI in weeks 2-5 you will automatically be moved to the same week at Ross. If you are registered for week 1, someone will be contacting you to find the best alternate week for your Pack.

Here is a bit of rationale behind the decision:

  • Currently registration at both camps is about 35% of capacity each. Combining them allows us to run one camp at 70% capacity, which is about what you would expect to see most summers.
  • Combining the camps allows us to consolidate resources, ensuring we can run all program areas effectively.
  • We selected Ross because it has had more recent facility upgrades and will help make general logistics more efficient.
  • Consolidating the Webelos programs into one camp ensures all key positions are filled. Other PMI staff will help fill openings in our other summer programs.

To repeat, we will move your Pack from PMI to Ross in our registration system, so you will not have to take any additional actions at this point. You will still attend camp in the same week and you’ll enjoy the same high-quality program, staff, and food service as you have come to expect at Camp PMI.

Please note that there will still be plenty of room for more Webelos at Camp Ross, so be sure you encourage all the families in your Pack and other local Cub Scout leaders to sign up today and be part of the adventure! Thank you for your continued flexibility; we know planning for this summer has been more complicated than in a typical year and we are sorry we had to add this additional complication. If you have other questions or need help with your registration, please contact me and we will get it sorted as quickly as possible.

See you all this summer!
